The past few weeks have been very busy and productive for the Kinderstars.  We have had a special visitor (Scooter), earned a Super Hero Day, and continue working hard on learning how to write, and identify letters and shapes.

It was a pleasure seeing all the parents at the Open House.  The support of involved parents will surely make a difference in the academic success of your children.  Thank you for your support.

Books We Have Read

Five Green and Speckled Frogs
Happy Dreamer
Please and Thank You
Oscar is Cold
The Three Little Pigs
Ben - The Furry Dog
Matthew and Tilley
All Kinds of Friends
The Lonely Scarecrow

Literacy

The Kinderstars have learned the letters N and C.  They have made bracelets with words that start with these letters, identified these letters, and continue to review the letters that we have learned.

The past few weeks they have learned what a syllable is and how to find out how many syllables are in a word.  They have practiced clapping out the syllables to determine the number of syllables in a word.

Math

The students have made a shape book that include circles, ovals, rectangles, squares, diamonds/rhombus, and trapezoids.  They had to identify the shape on each page. We have sang songs about the shapes and they held up their shape when they heard it in the song.  Kinderstars have been introduced to patterns and have made their own patterns strip using an AAB pattern. They also completed a pattern worksheet to determine what came next in a pattern.

Social Skills

The class continues to work on Life Skills 1 and Life Skills 2.  We have spent the past few weeks discovering what a friend is and how to get along with our classmates.
